FA254 Journey 2014 - 2015
FA254 proudly launched “African Designers for Tomorrow” in July 2014 – December 2014, the first international platform to give emerging African designers a door to European Market. The competition gave the spotlight on some of Africa’s brightest young talents.
From more than 100 applicants, 10 designers were chosen by an international jury chaired by Vogue Germany chief editor Christiane Arp.
The 10 finalist had the opportunity to receive intensive training, including international conference and international pattern making workshop in collaboration with ESMOD Berlin. The finalist developed a collection for each category partner: Apparel for eBay Fashion, Jewellery for MONOQI and Home Collection for Urbanara. During the development of the collection, the companies gave the designers constant feedback in order to obtain a cohesive collection that suits the brand and market expectations. With this process the finalist had the experience of international standards from design to retail. Each collection would be selling on the spring – summer season 2015.
“OUR GOAL IS TO CHANGE PEOPLE MINDS”
“I’m very excited to call upon young Africans to share their talent with the world,” says Waridi Schrobsdorff, a former Kenyan top model.
