Russell Solomon’s Top Six Looks For The Cool Kids
There is nothing sexier than a man in a well-tailored outfit and Russell Solomon, the new urban Nigerian menswear cult brand that mixes street, urban and formal wear sensibilities is making sure that men are looking in their best forms. Interpreting the brand which is made up of contemporary menswear staples, creative director Gabriel Solomon, a menswear stylist turned designer describes it as ‘a cool brand made for cool kids’.
Looking at his breakthrough Fall 2017 designs, Gabriel’s creative process through this collection was influenced by his experience in dressing Nigerian pop-culture royalties such as Don Jazzy, Banky W and rapper Jesse Jagz. On the inspiration behind this collection, Gabriel used Italian linen, nylon, polished cotton and soft wool, with detailed hand knitted embroidery to attempt a creation of sorts inspired by the likeness of God’s own greatest creations.
The collection in its entirety was inspired by the ‘dynamism of the human nature and of God’s own multi-dimensional creation’. At its core, Russell Solomon Fall 2017 collection is inspired by men, their likeness, and God in his divinity. Accents of traditional Nigerian tie-dye fabrics are used across the collection, re-worked coats, onesies and trenches are hard to miss.Looking at the divinely fitting suits and the meticulously styled coats, it is crystal clear that Russell Solomon is gunning for the best African men’s fashion label and we are here for it.
Russell Solomon will present his collection at the Hub of Africa Fashion Week which is in collaboration with Fa254 in a few weeks time, so make sure to see what more masculine divinity Russell Solomon has in store.
